Skin ageing caused by systematic sun exposure, facial blemishes due to excessive pigmentation and, in general, imperfections caused by melanin, are more and more common problems today. “Dark blemishes”, especially on hands and face, are one of the greatest aesthetic concerns of modern men and women. It will only be possible to remove the anti-aesthetic skin blemishes and recover the smoothness of the skin, bringing back its luminosity, with a treatment that has a direct effect on the intimate formation process of the pigment (melanin).
At Skin Renewal, to improve results with Dermamelan, a Mesoestetic Melanostop peel is applied immediately before the mask treatment at no extra cost.
Dermamelan has similar active ingredients to Cosmelan but at higher concentration and the mask treatment and follow up must be done under strict supervision of a cosmetic doctor. Dermamelan treatment guarantees the improvement of skin blemishes with a very high safety margin. Dermamelan Depigmentation treatment’s principal action is the elimination of melanin patches on the face - melasma, also called chloasma if the pigmentation occurs with pregnancy. Dermamelan Depigmentation treatment involves a very versatile, dynamic process which is easily adapted to the needs of each individual patient.
Dermamelan Depigmentation treatment action mechanism is based on the inhibition of tyrosinase, an important enzyme in the melanin formation process. Several of the substances present in the Dermamelan formula act by blocking this enzyme, or even by inverting the metabolic process of the transformation chain.
The Dermamelan Depigmentation treatment offers a series of major advantages and benefits compared with other types of depigmentation products found in the market:
- Very effective in all types of Melasma especially deep-seated severe Melasma or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation PIH

Dermamelan 1 – Mask
Azelaic Acid, Kojic Acid, Phytic Acid, Ascorbic Acid, Arbutine, Titanium Dioxide & Retinyl Palmitate. These ingredients inhibit tryosinase (the enzyme that produces melanin) and they block the production of melanin.
Dermamelan 2 – Maintenance Cream
Titanium Dioxide, Kojic Acid, Phytic Acid, Ascorbic Acid
Important: it must be known if the patient has undergone any previous treatments, especially with glycolic acid. If confirmed, any treatment, especially Glycolic Acid, must be eliminated at least, one week prior to using Dermamelan Depigmentation treatment.
The Dermamelan® Depigmentation treatment initiated at the medical office must be continued at home, on a daily basis, according to the guidelines indicated.
The treatment must not be interrupted under any circumstances, during the whole time prescribed.
The first and second day
During the first two days of the treatment, the skin may turn red. If the skin is very sensitive, the patient may experience an itching feeling. Slight burning and tightening of the skin is also absolutely normal, especially during the first 24 to 48 hours after starting the treatment. To relieve these problems, Skin Renewal offers the patient a soothing, anti-inflammatory PDT treatment during this healing phase.
Reddening of the skin
The reddening that occurs on the face after applying the Dermamelan mask treatment is similar to the effects of day-long exposure to the sun without protection.
Flaking and peeling may occur on all skin types between the second and third day
Do not pull on the flakes. Do not rub or scratch the skin. If necessary flakes can be cut off. Do not use exfoliants, scrubs, or peels. Avoid steam baths, saunas, and swimming in a hot spring for 2 weeks following treatment. It is advisable to wait until the initial flaking period is over before starting to apply make-up again. It is important to use the prescribed homecare exactly as explained on the post care instructions.
HOME TREATMENT – Dermamelan Maintenance Cream The second phase of the Dermamelan consist of a home maintenance cream Dermamelan with the intention of securing the depigmentation by association of agents such as Kojic Acid, Phytic Acid, and Vitamin C. We have added a physical agent to block the sun and guarantee that the UV rays do not keep on aggravating unwanted skin hyperpigmentation.
When you start using your Dermamelan 2 (active products), please do so in the following manner, known as the 3:2:1 protocol: (Please use sparingly – overuse of the maintenance cream can cause sensitivity)
- Month 1 (at least four weeks): Apply your product every 3rd night/day (as prescribed).
- Month 2 (at least four weeks): Apply your product every 2nd night/day (as prescribed).
- Month 3 (ongoing): Apply your product every night/day (as prescribed).
The period following the initial 6-month treatment process is called the STABILISATION period, and this can ideally be extended up to one year. Every effort should be made to continue treatment throughout the first summer. Even if the treatment is a great success, the long-term success depends on how well the protocol is followed, during both the treatment and stabilisation phases. A VERY GOOD sunblock is essential at all times.
The treatment results are largely dependent on your cooperation and adherence to the post-treatment skincare! The first 4 months constitute the treatment period. The period following is called the stabilisation period, and this is ideally extended up to one year, or longer. Avoid sun exposure for 2 weeks prior to treatment. Sun avoidance should continue as far as possible throughout the maintenance phase and avoided as a general rule for anyone who is prone to pigmentation.
