Understanding Laser Vein Reduction
Before embarking on a journey to reduce or remove unwanted veins, it is important to understand that the skin must be prepared with a tyrosinase inhibitor and SPF to mitigate any side effects or potential post-treatment discolouration.
At Skin Renewal, we offer four advanced treatment options for vein reduction:
Cutera CoolGlide Xeo Laser (ND:Yag) - This laser effectively permanently reduces veins with a diameter of up to 4mm on the face or body. It is only suitable for light skin types 1 to 3.
Secret RF Cautery - This is an advanced treatment option for spider veins. It utilises radiofrequency energy delivered through microneedles to effectively target superficial veins. This method is safer and more efficient than traditional electrolysis, which often results in pain and scarring. It is also suitable for all skin types.
Acutip 500™ Light-Based Treatment—Suitable for skin types 1 to 3, this is another effective solution for facial vein reduction and the treatment of cherry spots.
Limelightâ„¢ - This is only suitable for skin types 1 to 3 and is a non-invasive pulsed light treatment that improves the appearance of facial veins, redness, and other skin imperfections.
Recognised Excellence in Laser Technology
The Cutera N:Yag laser has been recognised by the Aesthetic Trends and Technologies Choice Awardsâ„¢ in 2005, 2006, and 2007 as the best laser for superficial leg veins across all skin types.
Treatable Areas and Patient Experience
Virtually any body area can be treated, including facial areas around the nose, eyes, mouth, cheeks, and chin. Thanks to our laser cooling tip, the procedure is quick and involves minimal discomfort.
Treatment Sufficiency: One to three treatments are often sufficient for smaller areas, such as around the nose.
Multiple Treatments: Larger regions or those with excessively dilated capillaries may require two to four treatments. Should the area be extremely vascular and widespread, it is best to break up the treatments over several sessions.
Treatment Frequency: We recommend 1 to 2 treatments spaced 12 weeks apart for most patients.
Post-Treatment Care and Expectations
Post-procedure discomfort is minimal. Patients might experience small pink bumps resembling mosquito bites, typically subside within a few days. The treated area may be swollen, sensitive to hot water for up to 48 hours.
Rare Side Effects: Superficial blisters and scabs can occur but usually heal within 2 to 14 days with regular use of antibiotic ointment and SPF.
Bruising and Discolouration: Treating bluer veins can cause temporary bruising or discolouration, which resolves in about two weeks. In rare cases, a brownish discolouration can occur due to iron in the blood, but this usually fades with time or with exfoliation treatments and lighting products.
Optimal Solutions for Spider Veins and Cherry Angiomas
Laser vein reduction using the ND:Yag laser is an exceptional treatment for tiny red spots (cherry angiomas) on the face, neck and chest. For diffuse redness, such as rosacea, our recommended treatments include the Limelight™ procedure combined with Laser Genesis®.
