Sebaceous Hyperplasia

Sebaceous hyperplasia is a common, benign condition of sebaceous glands (oil glands), most commonly found in middle-aged to older patients. Lesions can be single or multiple and manifest as yellowish, soft, small papules on the face (particularly nose, cheeks, and forehead). Sebaceous hyperplasia occasionally also occurs on the chest, areola and mouth.

Sebaceous hyperplasia is the most common of all pilosebaceous tumours (i.e. the oil glands attached to our hair follicles). It is a disproportionate enlargement of the sebaceous glands found most commonly on the forehead and cheeks. These areas of hyperplasia (overgrowth) consist of one or more lesions size 2 to 4mm in diameter with papules that most commonly have a yellowish hue.

When many of these lesions appear on the skin, they can be quite unsightly and they tend to be associated with ageing, so many patients would really like to have them removed.

I recently went to Skin Renewal for some treatments, and the experience was excellent from the moment I arrived. The Dr explained everything clearly and thoroughly, and the admin staff were equally friendly and knowledgeable. Keep up the good work guys!!
