The active Karin from Springs has always led a very busy life raising her five children, constantly studying to further her qualifications with an active psychology practice which she manages from home. After a bicycle accident in early 2018, she had to undergo a range of operations, which severely impacted her lifestyle and mobility resulting her in letting go of her physical appearance. She took the Mooimaak journey by the horns and gave it her full commitment, despite an already very full schedule!

Karin's Treatments

Karin's Mooimaak journey was led by Renewal Institute founder and Medical Director Dr Maureen Allem, with additional treatments performed by therapists Candice Evangelides and Jo-Anne Morgan, at the Johannesburg Morningside branch. Karin had an intensive treatment plan, to address her skin's rough texture, pigmentation, volume loss and sagging. She also had bi-weekly puncture therapy sessions to improve her mobility and range of movement in her stiff shoulder joint. An overnight sleep study in the luxurious sleep clinic, which was followed up by a full Health Renewal consultation to make suggestions for lifestyle and sleep routines and improve Karin's sleep quality and quantity. All these elements contributed to Karin's transformation success and will give her years of improved quality of life!

3D Liquid Facelift: Dermal fillers and Botulinum Toxin

Due to Karin's very active lifestyle and fitness levels her skin has taken a beating and showed severe volume loss, fine lines and wrinkles! To address these concerns, Dr Maureen used a wide variety of dermal fillers to restore volume and add more shape to Karin's facial features. Dermal fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, which is broken down by the metabolism over time. By strategically and skilfully injecting fillers into areas of concern they can restore lost volume, shape, rejuvenate and enhance natural facial features. Botulinum Toxin injections are indicated to improve fine lines and dynamic wrinkles.

Silhouette Soft® thread lift for cheek, jowl and neck lift

For Karin, Dr Maureen achieved an instant lift in the lower half of her face and neck, by using three sets of threads in her cheek, jowl and neck area. Monopolar Radiofrequency (Titania)

For Karin's skin tightening results a combination of treatments were combined, including Titania monopolar radiofrequency. This therapy produces a deep heating effect in the dermis which results in increased and accelerated cell metabolism, oxygenation and nourishment of tissues and improved blood circulation. The results are a lifting and firming effect on the treated tissue by strengthening the skin with improved collagen and fibroblast cell activity.
